Privacy Policy

Last updated: May2026 — Governing law: State of California

This Privacy Policy explains how FoodFund Foundation and FoodFund Inc. (collectively “FoodFund,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) collect, use, and protect information when you visit foodfund.com, make a donation, or apply to become a creator. We believe in plain language. We will tell you exactly what we collect, why, and what we do with it.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy covers three types of people who interact with FoodFund:

  • Visitors — anyone who browses foodfund.com without donating or signing up
  • Donors — anyone who makes a donation through the platform
  • Creators — content creators who apply for and maintain a FoodFund creator account

2. What we collect and why

From visitors

We do not require you to provide any personal information to browse the site. We do not use analytics services, ad networks, or third-party tracking scripts. The only data collected automatically is standard web server log data (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamp) retained briefly for security and error monitoring. This data is not linked to any individual identity.

From donors

When you make a donation we collect:

  • Email address — required only for campaign donations where a coupon reward is issued. Optional for standard donations. Used to send your receipt and, for campaigns, your reward coupon. Never used for marketing without your consent.
  • Payment information — your card or payment method details are processed entirely by Stripe, Inc. FoodFund never sees, stores, or has access to your full card number. We receive only a transaction ID and a partial card description (e.g. “Visa ending 4242”) for receipt purposes.
  • Donation amount and timestamp — stored in our database to generate receipts, run the meal counter, and compile disbursement records for our food bank partners.

From creators

When you apply to become a creator or maintain a creator account we collect:

  • Name, email, and phone number — used for account management, payout notifications, 1099 tax documents, and time-sensitive communications. Not shared with third parties or used for advertising.
  • Social media handles and profile URLs — displayed publicly on your creator page as you configure them.
  • Payout information — your PayPal email or bank account details, stored securely and used only to issue your revenue share payments.
  • Tax information — last four digits of your SSN or EIN for IRS 1099-NEC compliance if your earnings reach $600 in a calendar year. Full W-9 information is collected separately and stored securely when required.
  • Agreement acceptance record — timestamp and IP address of your Creator Agreement acceptance, retained as a legal record.

3. Cookies

FoodFund uses only first-party cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or third-party analytics. Here are every cookie we set:

  • Partner food banks — we share aggregated donation totals and meal counts with our food bank partners for disbursement and reporting purposes. We do not share individual donor names or contact information with food banks unless you explicitly opt in.

7. Security

FoodFund uses industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including TLS encryption for all data in transit, hashed storage of creator passwords, and access controls limiting who within FoodFund can view personal data. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe and is PCI-DSS compliant. No security system is impenetrable. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information we will notify you as required by applicable law.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correction — request that we correct inaccurate information
  • Deletion — request that we delete your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements
  • Opt out of communications — unsubscribe from any emails we send

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to opt out of the “sale” of personal information. FoodFund does not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@foodfund.com.

9. Children

FoodFund is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, contact us at privacy@foodfund.com and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised date. For material changes we will notify registered creators by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
