Houston Food Bank

Food banks operate at roughly $0.50 per meal — far less than retail — because they source rescued surplus food from grocery chains and manufacturers, bulk commodities from USDA programs, and donated goods. Your dollar doesn’t buy a meal’s worth of groceries. It covers the full cost of getting existing food from source to someone who needs it.
